Work in progress: Schizophrenia

In March this year I began on a new project where I am photographing Randi who lives nearby.
She's diagnozed with schizophrenia, but her daily life is fairly stable. She is writing a text to the
images that I have shot so far. Hopefully it will be a book one day. These images received a
3rd Prize in the domestic documentary category in Picture of the Year Norway 2011.

I am currently working on a project where I am photographing the Norwegian landscape my way.
This long-term project will be produced over several years. These images received a 2nd Prize in the

Work in progress: Bergen Rain

In September this year I began on a new project about my hometown Bergen. For the next months
I will shoot pictures when it's raining - which is quite often. Somehow it's a kind of therapy.

Norway After the 22/7 Killings

On July 22, 2011 77 people were killed in a bomb attack in central Oslo and a shooting rampage
on Utoya. Three days after the massacre, Anders Behring Breivik, who is charged for both of the
incidents, appeared in court in a closed hearing. This is a serie of portraits of people outside the
court during the hearing in Oslo. This picture story received a 2nd Prize in the news story category
in Picture of the Year Norway 2011. See the portraits here.

I recieved Gold medal in the press/feature category for the photo story A Memoir of a Boy in Prix de la Photographie 2011 (PX3).
The same serie also recieved a 3rd place in the Press Category. The winning pictures will be exhibited at Espace Dupon in Paris from 29. June 2011.

I am one of four runners up in the second edition of the Jacob Riis Award. Alex Masi won the first prize.
My photo essay, A Memoir of a Boy, was selected from 388 submitted portfolios.
The pictures will be exhibited in Buenos Aires in January next year.

Hardanger in The New York Times

"Opposition to Power Line at a Fjord Runs Deep" writes The New York Times on 11/11 2010.
The journalist reports from Hardanger and writes about the construction of a high-tension line
that have many opponents. I took the pictures for the article.

"Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics" will be exhibited in Suldal from 28.5-13.6. This work was published
in the photobook "Sort of Safe" in 2009. Vestlandsutstillingen is an annual art exhibition, and this year
the art works are on display in seven different galleries on the west coast of Norway.

Exhibition and book release

The cover of the book Sort of Safe.
I am one of 15 participants in the photo book Sort of Safe. Sort of Safe is the result of the Nordic Master Class workshop where 15 photographers from the Nordic countries were making visual stories about the Nordic welfare states. Pictures from the book are exhbited at the Town Hall in Århus (from 31.08). The pictures will also be exhibited in other Nordic countries in 2009. Here is my contribution to the book.

Summer exhibition in Bergen
2009
Two of the pictures exhibited at Per Vigelands store at Bryggen, Bergen.
Four images on canvas (100x70cm) are exhibited and for sale at Per Vigelands store in Bergen. Per Vigeland is a terrific goldsmith and his store is located in the old wharf of Bergen, Bryggen. Other pictures are also for sale at Ting Bryggen, a nearby store.
